2018 Communication Seniors of the Year

Six students at the Lawrence Herbert School of Communication were named seniors of the year in recognition of their outstanding achievement and commitment to their respective disciplines.
Students were chosen on the basis of their academic standing, faculty recommendations, and leadership in extracurricular activities.
The 2018 Herbert School Seniors of the Year are:
Benjamin Gabel, Skokie, IL – Radio Production & Studies
Jillian Laganelli, Worcester, MA – Video/Television
Josh Timpko, Shelton, CT – Film Studies & Production
Samantha Storms, Irwin, PA – Journalism
Zachary Kayal, Trenton, NJ – Mass Media Studies
Pakelody Cheam, Franklin, IN – Public Relations
During the May 10th awards ceremony at Herbert Hall, three students also presented original research projects:
Casey Lamkin, Silver Spring, MD, public relations – “The Kardashian Kingdom: A PR Spectacle”
Zachary Kayal, Trenton, NJ, mass media studies – “Slot-Machine Social Media: A Survey and Autoethnography of Social Media’s Impact on Mental Health”
Christine Harvey, Franklin, MA, film studies and production – “Masquerade–The Woman Hiding Within Billy Wilder’s Films”
