Clinicians Become Ed Leaders

The School of Education’s new master’s program for practicing health professionals graduated its first class of 11 students earlier this month. Among the graduates were a range of health professional practitioners specializing in pediatrics, internal medicine and other clinical specialties.
The Master of Science in Health Professions Pedagogy and Leadership (HPPL) in the School of Education is a hybrid program designed to prepare clinicians for expanded roles as clinician educators. The program’s flexible structure allows full-time working professionals to earn a graduate degree part-time within two to three years. This MS program combines the expertise and resources of Hofstra University’s School of Education, the Donald and Barbara Zucker School of Medicine at Hofstra/Northwell, and Northwell Health to provide students with a comprehensive learning experience. All students complete a capstone project related to their discipline and education roles.
