Outstanding Academic Performance Highlights Fall Semester

Hofstra University student-athletes experienced their best semester all-time in the classroom this past fall as the Pride student-athletes from all sports combined for a 3.36 grade point average.

This is the second consecutive semester that Hofstra student-athletes have set a record for the highest term GPA. The overall student-athlete GPA is now a spectacular 3.37. 

“It is great to see the commitment to the academic success of our student-athletes from all areas of our athletic department and our University,” commented Hofstra Vice President and Director of Athletics Rick Cole Jr. “Striving for greatness and raising the standards in everything we do is something that our student-athletes have accomplished in the classroom on a regular basis and we applaud them. Rachel Peel and her outstanding academic advising team continue to do amazing work with our student-athletes and we thank them for their tireless effort on behalf of the University.”

Among the academic highlights this past fall was volleyball student-athlete Laura Masciullo being named to the CoSIDA Academic All-America Team. Masciullo, a three-time CoSIDA Academic All-District selection, becomes only the 27th Hofstra student-athlete to ever earn Academic All-America accolades and just the fourth volleyball student-athlete to be recognized.

Hofstra student-athletes have a dedicated staff at the Fried Center in James C. Metzger Hall who guide each student-athlete to success from the time of enrollment to graduation. The Fried Center provides space for private study, computer labs, and a private conferencing area for tutoring and mentoring appointments.
