Virtual Honor Society Inductions for the Romance Languages

The Department of Romance Languages and Literatures recently held its first online induction ceremonies for the Spanish, Italian, and French national honor societies: Sigma Delta Pi, Gamma Kappa Alpha, and Phi Delta Pi. Students were recognized for their passion, perseverance, and success in the completion of their foreign language majors and minors.

The celebration included music, poetry and stimulating conversation. Sigma Delta Pi faculty adviser Vicente Lledo-Guillem said that even though the festivities were online, “The atmosphere was fantastic. Students shared their experiences at Hofstra in Spanish, Italian, and French in a very relaxed atmosphere. Though we could not be together in person, this induction will be remembered as proof that Hofstra creates communities despite the circumstances and will continue to do so in the Department of Romance Languages and Literatures.”
