Assistant Professor of Geology, Sustainability and the Environment Jase Bernhardt was interviewed on Eyewitness News and Fox 5 NY on Earth Day 2020 about how pollution and COVID-19 are related. Because people are staying home, the air is clearing up.
“This is unprecedented where we haven’t seen – since the industrial revolution – a shutdown of not just one or two cities but most cities across the globe,” he said on Eyewitness News/ABC-7. He added that realizing the difference the human activity can have on the environment may “reinforce the importance of maintaining better air quality especially in and around our cities.”
Dr. Bernhardt was also interviewed by the website ThePointsGuy about how the decrease in air travel may result in less accurate weather forecasts.
