FORM, Hofstra’s student-run art gallery, is excited to announce the opening of its latest exhibition, Only in NY, by Ralph Choi ’21.
The six photographs by Choi are views of New York City inspired by photographer and “outlaw Instagrammer” Humza Deas.
“One of my works is a picture of 42nd Street in midtown Manhattan during a snow storm,” Choi said. “That work in particular is proof that even in difficult conditions, I will travel into the city to capture a unique scene or perspective.”
After graduation, Choi plans to attend medical school. But his photography has helped him become the student he is today.
“I have become more mature [through photography],” he said. “Going out and taking pictures has helped me see the world in a different way. I look at things for what they are instead of simply for the purposes they serve. I have learned to become more cognizant of my surroundings.”
Only in NY will be on display in the FORM Gallery from March 8-15. The FORM Gallery is located on the first floor of Calkins Hall. For more information on this and other FORM exhibits, call the Department of Fine Arts, Design, and Art History at 516-463-5474.
