Happy Day After Groundhog Day and Thank you to Puxatawney Phil for not seeing his shadow! May spring weather come soon! Already, I’m feeling that there’s more sunlight in the early mornings and the late afternoons and it lifts my spirits.
I hope you are enjoying your classes, time with friends, and opportunities to engage in all that Hofstra has to offer: events, clubs and organizations, and experiences in New York City.
This week is the beginning of Black History Month. How will you celebrate or engage with Black History this month? You can start by coming to an event TODAY: a lecture by journalist and public intellectual Nikole Hannah-Jones, right here on our campus at 11:15 (Cranford Adams Playhouse). See the information in the events section below. Don’t miss it! There will be more events on campus throughout the month, as well as events in the community: take advantage of the opportunities all around you to commemorate, observe, and celebrate!
Now that you’ve settled into the rhythm of your new semester, it’s a good time to take out the syllabi for all your courses and map out when your assignments are due so you can schedule the time you need to do the work that will lead you to success.
Lastly, please remember, tomorrow, Feb. 4, is the deadline to apply to the Hofstra College Student Advisory Council. See the information in the opportunities section below.
