Student Artist Inspired by Self-Discovery

"SKULL-O-LANTERN" by Sara Lilienthal

by Madison Mento ‘21

Self-Discovery, a collection of paintings by Sara Lilienthal ’22, will be on display at the student-run FORM Gallery at Calkins Hall, October 21-25.

The Hicksville, NY, resident says the inspiration for the works in her exhibition came from “Self-growth, healing, self-love, and acceptance. This gallery is a reflection of how much I have come to learn about myself through my artwork. Key pieces of my personality are reflected in every painting.”

Lilienthal has been an artist since childhood, but her art has changed significantly since she first began to explore her talent.

“My focus used to be on making art that looks pretty. Now, it is about the journey that goes into creating art, and presenting pieces that carry a part of me within them.”

While Lilienthal plans to continue pursuing art after graduation, she also hopes to make a career out of Internet-streaming, which she already does on the karaoke-streaming app, Twitch.

There will be a closing reception for Self-Discovery on Thursday, October 24, at 7 p.m. The FORM Gallery is located on the first floor of Calkins Hall.
