Hofstra University’s Cheer and Dance teams brought the house down, defending their national titles at the 2019 Universal Cheerleaders Association and Universal Dance Association College National Championship in Orlando, FL.

“We had an incredible start to the weekend, securing a victory in the Open All-Girl Game Day Division – a brand new category,” said Christine Farina, Cheer Head Coach. The team also placed third in Worlds and fourth in Small Co-ed Division I.

Dance defended their Division I Pom national title, making this the team’s fourth year competing and winning in this category. The team also placed fifth in Division I Jazz.

“This weekend was full of reaching our goals,” said Kelly Olsen-Leon, Dance Head Coach. “I am proud of these athletes for what they accomplished and how well they represented the university.”

Hofstra Cheer currently holds 11 national championship titles and six world victories. Dance has won seven national championships and has one world victory.

“The work ethic of these students is an inspiration to all,” said Pat Montagano, Senior Assistant Dean of Students and Director of Campus Recreation. “They rocked the house.”
