INTO University Partnerships, an international education organization, is pleased to announce a long-term partnership with Hofstra University. The agreement builds on Hofstra’s powerful global reputation, while providing opportunities for students from around the world to study at one of the leading universities in the United States to experience the unique culture and commerce of the New York City area.
INTO’s 12th partnership in the United States will be known as INTO Hofstra University.
“We are delighted to partner with Hofstra, a university which blends rigor, prestige and location to offer students an unparalleled higher education experience with exceptional student outcomes” said John Latham, Chief Executive Officer of INTO, on announcing the partnership.
As part of the collaboration, teams from Hofstra University and INTO have developed multiple Pathway programs that provide academic, cultural and English language support for international students. These programs will help improve their English language comprehension while preparing them to be successful, degree-seeking students at the university. The Academic English, International Year One and Graduate Pathway programs created through this partnership will be taught by Hofstra faculty and all admissions decisions will be determined by Hofstra University.
“Over the years, Hofstra’s reputation has grown as an international destination, for our academic programs, our faculty and our location near New York City, which allows us to provide unparalleled career and cultural experiences to our students,” said Hofstra University President Stuart Rabinowitz. “Our partnership with INTO, and their depth of experience in the international market, allows us to create a truly global campus that benefits all of our students and creates an environment in which students are prepared for a global economy.”
Career-Focused, Quality Education
As the only school ever chosen to host three consecutive US presidential debates (2008, 2012 and 2016), Hofstra University has distinguished itself as a voice in the national conversation.
Located just 40 kilometers east of New York City, Hofstra University has built close industry partnerships with leading US companies. Hofstra’s industry-led programs and impressive faculty connections help prepare students to meet the needs of the modern-day workforce.
Even before graduating, students gain experience in their industry. Engineering and MBA students can join the co-op program, in which students work full-time for one of more than 150 industry partners, including organizations like IBM, UPS and even the CIA.
Another example of these connections includes Facebook’s Cybersecurity University Program. Hofstra’s DeMatteis School of Engineering and Applied Science is one of nine colleges worldwide chosen to participate in this exclusive initiative, in which Facebook invites Hofstra’s top computer science students to various events and seminars, including the BlackHat and DefCon conferences, the Annual Facebook Developer Conference for app developers, and the Annual CyberPatriotX Competition.
Students from the Herbert School of Communication gain experience through internships at the world’s leading media companies, located within a short commute of campus in New York City. Through the Center for Entrepreneurship, all students, including those in business, engineering, communications, science and health care, can compete in business plan competitions and for start-up funds for new business ideas.
Hofstra’s career-focused approach delivers excellent student outcomes; 99% of undergraduate degree recipients from the 2016-2017 class are employed or attending or planning to attend graduate school, according to Hofstra’s Cap & Gown Survey. In addition, Hofstra undergraduate alumni are ranked in the top six per cent nationwide for mid-career salary by PayScale College Salary Report 2018-19.
“Both Hofstra and INTO have a shared commitment to providing quality education to students in an environment that encourages, nurtures and supports learning. Hofstra’s international reputation for academic excellence paired with their focus on providing real opportunities for students to put their learning in to real-world practice offers ambitious students around the world an ideal springboard from which to launch their own careers”, added John Sykes, INTO’s co-founder and Executive Vice President for North America.
Each year INTO helps almost 14,000 students from 90 countries achieve their dream of studying overseas. With a model of building deeply embedded partnerships, INTO empowers universities to reach their international enrollment ambitions while also supporting students as they transition into studying at a US university.
Recruitment will begin Spring 2019; the first students will arrive on campus in the Fall 2019.
