Commemorating the Independence of Equatorial Guinea

Dr. Benita Sampedro Vizcaya, Associate Professor of Romance Languages and Literatures and Co-Director of Latin American and Caribbean Studies, was featured recently in a Spanish documentary about the 50th anniversary of the independence of Equatorial Guinea. Dr. Sampedro appears 7:00 minutes and 18:40 minutes into the film, which aired on the channels TVE2 and UNED TV.

Dr. Sampredro has also been named vice president of the international Center for Afro-Hispanic Studies, based in Madrid. The center promotes and coordinates the multidisciplinary research of the Afro-Hispanic populations of the world and disseminates – through teaching and publication – the results of that research.
