Alumnus Anthony Dalessio ’80 has been tapped as the new executive director of Hofstra University’s Graduate Business Career Services, effective October 1, 2018.
As a graduate of the Frank G. Zarb School of Business, Dalessio returns to the University after a distinguished 38-year career in public accounting, auditing, and international accounting standards. Most recently, he was managing partner for KPMG LLP on Long Island. Under Dalessio’s leadership, the office grew to be the largest of the “Big 4” international accounting and professional services firms on Long Island.
“Returning to Hofstra as an executive director is full circle from my time as a student, Beta Alpha Psi officer, and undergraduate assistant to the chairman of the accounting department,” said Dalessio. “I’m honored to bring my Hofstra background and career experience to contribute to the quality educational experience Hofstra provides students and reinforce the importance of lifelong learning.”
Dalessio has served as an instructor of accounting and continuing professional education at Hofstra, and an adjunct professor of auditing and accounting information systems at Baruch College.
His extensive civic involvement includes serving on the Long Island Association and the Port Washington Library Foundation boards, the Tilles Center Council of Overseers, the Metropolitan Club’s Membership Committee in New York City, the Northwell Health Department of Medicine Leadership Circle, and the Hofstra University Alumni and Advisory Council of the Frank G. Zarb School of Business.
“Tony’s enduring commitment to education and community is an excellent fit with Hofstra’s mission and goals. His business and education experience, coupled with being a Hofstra alumnus, make him uniquely qualified to oversee business career relations and identify new opportunities that will facilitate the success of our graduates,” said Dr. Herman Berliner, PhD, dean of the Frank G. Zarb School of Business.
Dalessio earned a Bachelor of Business Administration in accounting from Hofstra University, and is a certified public accountant in the New York state. Dalessio was the recipient of the MCW Community Partnership Award at the Miracle Corners of the World 13th Annual Gala in 2017. He was a Long Island Business News Hall of Fame inductee in November 2015, and Outstanding CEO awardee in May 2013. Dalessio resides in Sands Point, New York.
