Adjunct Associate Professor of Fine Arts, Design, Art History Susannah Ray will give a talk about her book of photography, New York Waterways, at Nolan Park 5B on Governors Island on Saturday, September 22, at 5 p.m. This event is presented by Underwater New York in connection with the 2018 Works on Water Celebration.
New York Waterways – published earlier this year by Hoxton Mini Press, London, UK – features images of the lesser known shores of New York City.
New York City is defined by water, yet many of its shorelines are largely unknown. Professor Ray’s photographs, inspired by a Walt Whitman poem, take viewers on a seasonal journey past sheltered bays, under great bridges and over deep rivers to give them a moving perspective on a megacity they thought they knew so well.
