Suicide Warning Signs

In the wake of the high-profile deaths of Kate Spade and Anthony Bourdain, Newsday spoke with experts including Genevieve N. Weber, PhD, associate professor of counseling and mental health professions in the School of Health Professions and Human Services, about the warning signs to watch for in people who might be at risk of taking their own lives.

The rate of suicide in the United States rose 25 percent from 1999 to 2016, according to recent data from the federal Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
