Professor Organizes Annual Astronomy Festival

Visitors to the nation’s capital will look to the skies with professional telescopes as part of the Ninth Annual Astronomy Festival on the National Mall (Northwest of the Washington Monument NE; 17th Street NW and Constitution Ave) on Saturday, June 23, 2018, from 6-11 p.m.

washington memorialThe event, organized by Hofstra University’s Astronomy Outreach Program, features:

  • Day/evening close-up views of the Sun, Moon, Jupiter and Saturn with solar, optical and radio telescopes
  • Planetarium shows under a dome and opportunities to meet astronomers
  • Speakers and interactive hands-on activities presented by science and educational organizations
  • Astronomical image exhibits

This free public stargazing event and the associated programs are coordinated annually by Dr. Donald Lubowich, Coordinator of Astronomy Outreach at Hofstra University.

Admission is free. The rain location is the School Without Walls High School, 2130 G St. NW, on the George Washington University campus.
