May 2-20, Calkins Hall
Hundreds of paintings, sculptures, drawings, photographs, and works of 3D, design and new media will be on display at Calkins Hall, as fine arts students show off their best works of the year. The Department of Fine Arts, Design, Art History presents the annual Student Art Show May 2-20, 2018.
The opening reception for the show is Wednesday, May 2, during Common Hour (11:30 a.m.-12:40 p.m.) at Calkins Hall, Room 120. There will be music and refreshments, and awards are given to recognize the finest student artwork in a variety of categories.
This year’s guest judge is New York-based artist Wendy White. Following the opening reception, she will present a lecture at 1 p.m. also in Calkins Hall, room 120. White has had solo exhibitions of her work at Leo Koenig Inc., New York, N.Y.; Jablonka Maruani Mercier, Brussels, Belgium; Van Horn, Düsseldorf, Germany, Andrew Rafacz Gallery, Chicago; Cabinet, Milan; Galerie Jérôme Pauchant, Paris; and Galeria Moriarty, Madrid.
She is the recipient of a New York Foundation for the Arts painting fellowship in 2012 and a George Segal painting grant in 2008. Her work was featured in Phaidon’s anthology Vitamin P2: New Perspectives in Painting and will be included in the forthcoming group show titled The World’s Game: Fútbol and Contemporary Art, curated by Franklin Sirmans, at Perez Art Museum, Miami.
