Discussing LI Education Concerns

Bruce Torff, a professor of teaching, learning and technology in the School of Education, moderated a panel discussion at a Nassau-Suffolk Parent Teacher Association event on March 3, 2018.

Panelists included New York State Education Commissioner Mary Beth Elia and a member of the New York State Board of Regents, Roger Tilles. Topics of discussion included school safety, teacher evaluation, graduation requirements for students with disabilities, and support for districts facing an influx of English language learners. The event was attended by over 300 school administrators and Parent Teacher Association officials. This is the third consecutive year Prof. Torff has served as moderator at this annual event.

In addition, Prof. Torff taught professional development workshops for teachers at the Great Neck Teachers Center on November 4, 2017 and March 14, 2018, continuing a run of workshops at the center spanning over 20 years.
