Alan Singer, professor in the School of Education and an expert on social issues and activism in public education, recounts his experience at the March for Our Lives protest in New York City on Saturday, March 24 in his latest article, “Marches for Our Lives and the Stoneman Douglas Student Manifesto” published on the Daily Kos.

Singer and his family  joined about 175,000 protesters in Manhattan at the movement to support the March for Our Lives in Washington D.C. on the same day, where an estimate 800,000 people gathered to protest against gun violence and to demand federal action. The students of Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, FL have proposed nine reforms to current gun laws. Singer outlines these proposals in his article.
