Learn About Entrepreneurship Assistance Program

Hofstra University’s Scott Skodnek Business Development Center is offering a 10-week Entrepreneurial Assistance Program (EAP) that offers training and counseling about how to create a business plan, manage finances and create a cutting-edge marketing strategy. Participants should be able to complete a business plan while attending the program.  A free workshop about the program will be held on Wednesday, February 28, 2018 at 6 p.m. at Hofstra’s Oak Street Center, Room 101.

Participants will have the opportunity to compete in a business plan competition sponsored by Capital One Bank with prizes up to $2,500.  Participants must finish all program requirements and submit a complete business plan to be eligible for the competition.

Since 1991, the EAP has helped more than 1,330 entrepreneurs launch and expand their businesses through management training offered in workshops ranging from developing marketing strategies to creating financial management systems. The next 60-hour program will be offered from March 12 – May 14, 2018 on Monday and Wednesday evenings from 6 to 9 pm for a fee of $495 (payable in two installments), including all training materials. Limited scholarships for veterans and Nassau Community College alumni are available.  An Entrepreneurship Certificate is earned upon completion of requirements.

Information session attendees will have the opportunity to speak with EAP Director Judith Tyne and Programs Administrator April Jones about the workshops and assistance available to start, maintain or expand a business. The information session is free and open to the public. To register, please visit or call (516) 463-5850.
