Jim Lee Exhibit at Nicelle Beauchene Gallery

Installation View of Half Off, 2018

Through February 4

The Nicelle Beauchene Gallery in New York City is presenting its fourth exhibition of work by Jim Lee, Associate Professor of Fine Arts. The body of single color canvases, titled Half Off, will be on display through February 4, 2018.

Half Off (Peace In the Valley), 2017
Acrylic, dry pigments, and staples on linen 76 x 52 inches

The gallery describes the paintings as “monochrome yet he [Lee] disrupts the supposed sanctity of the picture surface with his signature seams and staples and a motley mélange of paints including spray enamel, oil, Flashe, dry pigment, and several varieties of industrial paint. In an untitled yellow piece — Lee’s cheeky take on a color field painting — the left half of the canvas is painted with a traditionally mixed yellow Flashe paint while the right side is tinted with traffic and zone marking paint.”

The Gallery is located at 327 Broome Street. For more information call 212-375-8043.
