Remembering the Rossellis’ Fight Against Fascism

Professor Stanislao Pugliese
The New York Times

Dr. Stanislao Pugliese, professor of history and the Queensboro UNICO Distinguished Professor of Italian and Italian-American Studies and the co-editor of the newly published Routledge History of Italian Americans, has reviewed Caroline Moorehead’s The Remarkable Story of an Italian Mother, Her Two Sons, and Their Fight Against Fascism for The New York Times. Moorehead, the acclaimed author of A Train in Winter and Village of Secrets, writes about the Rosselli family of Florence, vocal anti-fascists who led the opposition against Mussolini.

Dr. Pugliese writes “Moorehead has done us a great service in restoring the humanity of the Rosselli family. … It’s the most complete portrait we have in English of this extraordinary family fighting — each in his or her own way — the most pernicious ideology of the last century.”
