The Hofstra Jazz Ensemble, under the direction of Professor David Lalama, presents the Peter B. Clark, Jr. Memorial Scholarship Concert, “Singers Unlimited: The American Songbook” on Sunday, November 19, 2017, at 7 p.m. Special guest performers include Dr. Leon Petruzzi on lead trumpet, The Hofstra Singers and the Hofstra Vocal Jazz Quartet under the direction of Matthew Ho.
Gershwin’s “Strike Up The Band”; Louis Prima’s “Sing, Sing, Sing”; “Over the Rainbow” by Harold Arlen; Stevie Wonder’s “I Just Called to Say ‘I Love You’”; “Round Midnight” by Thelonious Monk; and Cole Porter’s “You’d Be So Nice to Come Home To” are among the classic songs that will be performed.
The concert location is The Helene Fortunoff Theater, Monroe Lecture Center, California Avenue, South Campus. Tickets are $10, $8 for senior citizens. Members of the Hofstra community receive two free tickets upon presentation of a current HofstraCard. If seats are still available on the day of performance, tickets will be sold at the door starting 60 minutes prior to show time at the theater box office window.
