The Diane Lindner-Goldberg Child Care Institute (CCI) at the Joan and Arnold Saltzman Community Services Center was a sea of miniature superheroes, Disney princesses, pumpkins, and cuddly animals on Halloween 2017. Every year CCI hosts a parade on the playground for the children and their picture-taking parents. The Hofstra University Pep Band provided the music for this year’s parade.
CCI focuses on the child’s total development – social, emotional, cognitive and physical. The program offers developmentally appropriate activities for children aged 8 weeks to 5 years, providing opportunities for hands-on, integrated learning. CCI is accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC), the leading organization of early childhood professionals. Nationwide, only 8 percent of all preschools and other early childhood programs are NAEYC-accredited.
Furthermore, CCI provides high-quality educational and practical experiences for Hofstra University students in the School of Education, in the Department of Speech-Language-Hearing Sciences, in the Occupational Therapy Program, Dance Program, and other master’s and undergraduate programs on campus.
