WABC-TV AccuWeather/Hofstra Forum

It’s been five years since Superstorm Sandy socked the New York metropolitan area. Is our area prepared for another storm of that magnitude? What kind of work goes into forecasting severe weather systems?  WABC-TV Eyewitness News is presenting an AccuWeather town hall at Hofstra University’s Student Center Theater at the Mack Student Center on Monday, October 30, 7-8:30 p.m.

A panel of WABC-TV’s meteorologists – Lee Goldberg, Bill Evans, Amy Freeze, and Jeff Smith – is scheduled to discuss the behind-the-scenes preparation that goes into forecasting extreme weather conditions and whether the New York metropolitan area has become better prepared for these kinds of storm systems. Hofstra Assistant Professor of Geology, Environment and Sustainability Studies Jase Bernhardt will contribute to the discussion.

This event is free and open to public. Seating is general admission. For more information visit the WABC-TV website or call Saundra Thomas, WABC-TV Vice President Community Affairs, at 917-260-7126.
