The School of Education and the Hofstra chapter of Phi Delta Kappa will present a free screening of Jonathan Skirnik’s Creating Gender Inclusive Schools on Wednesday, October 18 at 7 p.m. in the Student Center Theater on the South Campus.
Creating Gender Inclusive Schools is one of four films in the Youth & Gender Media Project, which together demonstrate how to reach members of a school community to help them create educational settings that welcome all, regardless of how they identify and express themselves.
“A lot of the bullying that takes place in schools is directed at children and teens who are gender nonconforming,” said Dr. Judith Kaufman, professor of teaching, learning and technology. “This film can provide current and future educators with ways to help their students rethink gender norms and resist the powerful messages they get about how boys and girls should act.”
This event is FREE and open to the public. For additional information, email Judith.S.Kaufman[at]Hofstra.edu.
