Frank G. Zarb School of Business alumnus Brian Ruane, chief executive officer, BNY Mellon Government Securities Services Corp. (GSS) and board member, Promontory Interfinancial Network, will present a lecture on titled “Collateral – The New Performance Driver” on Wednesday, October 4th, 5:45 – 8 p.m., at the University Club, North Campus.
The lecture, sponsored by The Center for International Financial Services and Markets, will focus on how, in 2017, the global buy-side faces liquidity and funding pressures stemming from market and regulatory reform. As a result, access to high quality collateral, funding and liquidity is not only a pressing concern, but has emerged as the essential new performance driver for the buy-side.
This paper presents the findings of BNY Mellon’s outreach, conducted during the first quarter of 2017, to senior buy-side executives from over 120 global firms. It provides insights on demand-supply imbalances that are being experienced by by-side firms, and the possible solutions they are exploring in response to fears that ready access to liquidity and high-quality collateral may become scarce in the years ahead.
The mission of The Center for International Financial Services and Markets is to promote faculty and student study and research in the field of international financial services and markets, through interdisciplinary forums and conferences, Learn and Lunch meetings and speaker series events.
