Steve Keister, adjunct professor of fine arts, design, art history, will be one of two artists featured in an exhibition at the Real Estate Gallery at 1144 Manhattan Avenue in Brooklyn, NY, from June 17-July 22, 2017. The show, Necropolitan Avenue, with Joshua Abelow, features the artists’ shared interest in the totemic grand visionary narrative associations seen in both primitive art and the New York School’s existential search. Professor Keister draws upon pre-Columbian art, but makes his castings from discarded styrofoam packaging.
