The Hofstra community is set to kick off the holiday season with the 33rd Annual Holiday Lighting Ceremony on December 8 at 5 p.m. in front of Hofstra Hall on South Campus.
The celebration will continue after the lighting ceremony in the Student Center Main Dining Room with student performances, hot chocolate, and dessert. Student organizations will also unveil holiday scenes they have painted on the windows.
In addition to the lighting ceremony, Hofstra is celebrating the holidays with various activities, including the Home for the Holidays Drive, which is run by the Office of University Relations in collaboration with departments across campus. The drive benefits the Interfaith Nutrition Network (INN) of Hempstead, New York. The INN is a non-profit agency that provides food, shelter, and social programs to disadvantaged individuals and families across Long Island. This year suggested donations are new and unwrapped pajamas, thermals, socks, gloves, hats, coats, diapers, linens, toiletries, toys and gift items for adults and children of all ages. Holiday donation bins will be set throughout campus, including a large collection bin in the Student Center, near the TD Bank. Donations will be accepted through December 12. For more information call the Office of University Relations at (516) 463-6818.
