The 2016 Election and Transatlantic Relations – Sept. 21

Debate 2016 programming features a panel discussion titled “The 2016 Election and Transatlantic Relations: Promotion of ‘orderism’ or ‘democracy’?” on Wednesday, Sept. 21. Foreign policy, especially transatlantic relations, is one of the leading issues that has polarized the 2016 presidential candidates. Panelists will engage in a roundtable discussion to explore each candidate’s stance on transatlantic relations and related issues such as the future of NATO, U.S.-European Union relations, Russian assertiveness and immigration.

Dr. Bernard J. Firestone, Dean, Hofstra College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, will moderate the discussion, which includes these panelists:

  • Justin Vogt, Deputy Managing Editor, Foreign Affairs
  • Carolyn Dudek, Professor of Political Science, Hofstra University
  • Paul Fritz, Associate Professor of Political Science, Hofstra University

The event, sponsored by Department of Political Science, will be held at the Guthart Cultural Center Theater, Axinn Library, from 12:50 to 2:15 p.m. This event is free and open to the public with registration.
