Millennials, Social Media and the 2016 Presidential Election, Sept. 19

The Lawrence Herbert School of Communication will sponsor a Debate 2016 panel discussion titled “Millennials, Social Media and the 2016 Presidential Election” on Monday, Sept. 19 at 7 pm.

This discussion will examine some of the most popular contemporary media organizations and social media outlets where millennials get their news about the 2016 presidential election, as well as how these forums are shaping the views of first-time voters. Briana Smith ’16, a student in the MA Journalism program, will moderate the panel, which features:

  • Lauren McCullough ’04 – Social media editor, formerly with Facebook, BreakingNews.com, and The Associated Press
  • Matt Silverman ’04 – Director of Social Video, Daily Dot
  • Tara Conry ’07 – News Editor, Newsday Media Group
  • Kaitlyn Piccoli ’08 – Social Media Editor, VICE Media
