Hofstra Tax Society annually organizes the VITA program, a service offered during tax season in association with the IRS, that provides low income families free tax preparation and filing. The student organization served three libraries – Baldwin, Uniondale, and Henry Waldinger at Valley Stream – on Wednesday evenings and weekends. In total 24 volunteers completed 270 returns. A certificate of appreciation from the IRS and the U.S. Treasury Department was given to each volunteer, as well as Dr. Anthony Basile, their faculty adviser, and the University for their volunteer efforts.
