Dr. Zagano on Pope’s Holy Thursday Decree

Dr. Phyllis Zagano, adjunct professor of religion
The Washington Post

Dr. Phyllis Zagano, who teaches in the Department of Religion, is quoted in the Washington Post  about Pope Francis’ decree that  women may participate in the Holy Thursday foot-washing ritual alongside men for the first time since the 1950s. The foot-washing decree challenges the tradition of a male-dominated Mass, said Dr. Zagano. “The perception that the Catholic liturgy is an all male affair is disturbing and counteracts the message of Jesus, which is that we’re all made in the image of God.”
