Hofstra’s Makin’ Treble and Sigma’cappella will compete against eight other New York metro area college ensembles at the International Championship of the Collegiate A cappella Mid-Atlantic Quarterfinal on Saturday, February 27, at 7 p.m. in the John Cranford Adams Playhouse. This is the second consecutive year Hofstra has been the site of the competition; last year, Sigma’cappella unseated NYU’s renowned N’Harmonics to become the first group in the past decade to win a quarterfinal in its inaugural year of competition.
The Hofstra Dutchmen, the hosts of this year’s event, will be the first group to take the stage. Each of the following groups draws a number to determine the order of competition. Makin’ Treble and Sigma’cappella will face off against against Ani V’ Ata, APC Rhythm and The Mixtapes from New York University; Columbia Nonsequitur from Columbia University; FIT Skyliners from the Fashion Institute of Technology; the Fordham Ramblers and The F#s of Fordham University; and Vocal Synergy from Wagner College.
At the end of the evening, two groups will advance to the ICCA Mid-Atlantic Semifinal at The Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts in Philadelphia.
The Hofstra event is open to the public. Purchase tickets in advance online or at the door. Tickets are $20 and $15 for students with current ID.
