Classical Concerts Hit the Right Note at Semester’s End

Over the next week the Department of Music presents its final three ensemble concerts of the semester at the John Cranford Adams Playhouse.

On Friday, December 4, the Hofstra Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Adam Glaser, features works by Strauss, Schubert and Brahms.

The Hofstra University Choir and Hofstra Chamber Orchestra, directed by Adam Glaser and Cindy Bell, will perform works on Tuesday, December 8, by Elgar, Mozart, Bach, Leavitt, Maraire, Daley, Naplan, Dawson, and others.

And the final concert of the semester, on Saturday, December 12, by the Hofstra Wind Ensemble and Symphonic Band, features “Dynamica” by Jan Van der Roost and the world premiere of Tom Davis’ “Concerto for Tuba, No. 1,” performed by Professor Michael Saltzman, tuba.

All three concerts begin at 8 p.m. Members of the Hofstra community receive up to two free tickets upon presentation of a current HofstraCard. Otherwise, tickets are $10 general admission; $8 senior citizen (over 65) or matriculated non-Hofstra student with ID. Visit or call the Hofstra Box Office at 516-463-6644 for more information.
