World AIDS Day is Focus of MPH Editorial

Professor Anthony J. Santella and two first-year Master of Public Health students, Jessica Clark and Keisha Sumner, in the School of Health Professions and Human Services, have co-authored an editorial about the ongoing fight against HIV in HIV/AIDS Research and Treatment Open Journal, a publication of Openventio Publishers.

The piece reflects on the importance and history of World AIDS Day, celebrated annually on December 1 in support of those living with the illness and in memory of those who have died, and the global initiatives that have contributed to the progress made against the disease in the last 30 years.

The authors also highlight a Hofstra symposium on Friday, Dec. 4, where Dr. Santella will share the results of the first HIV and sexual health survey of young gay and bisexual men on Long Island.
