The Frank G. Zarb School of Business’ Center for International Financial Services and Markets together with the Financial Women’s Association-L.I. Chapter and J.P. Morgan will sponsor “Long Island Women at the Helm: CEOs Share Their Road to Success.” The event will be held at the Hofstra University Club, located in David S. Mack Hall on North Campus, on Thursday, Oct. 22, from 6:00 to 8:30 p.m.
This marquee event will feature a panel of three noteworthy female business owners on Long Island, who will share their successes, challenges and insights. Panelists include Susan Axelrod, founder and chairwoman, Love & Quiches Gourmet; Esther Fortunoff, founder and president, Fortunoff Fine Jewelry; and Betty Heiman, founder and CEO, Transparent Health Group.
“We are pleased to have these dynamic women share their experiences with Hofstra students,” said Nancy A. White, associate professor of finance in the Zarb School of Business and co-director of the Center for International Financial Services and Markets.
Attendees will learn how successful women build their careers, how to prioritize work/life balance issues, how to establish your own brand, and how to give back to your business and your community.
“J.P. Morgan is privileged to sponsor ‘Long Island Women at the Helm,’” said Michele Tabak, private banker at J.P. Morgan Private Bank in Long Island, who will moderate the event. “Our firm has long been an advocate for women in the financial industry, most recently through our Women on the Move and ReEntry programs. We are proud to continue that tradition by supporting this important event.”
Tabak will ask the panelists a series of nearly 20 questions. Topics include how the panelists’ backgrounds prepared them for starting and growing a successful business; the most rewarding part of their job/position; how they achieved corporate success while juggling a family and kids; and the single, most important piece of advice they have for women in the business world.
