The Department of Fine Arts, Design, Art History presents 4D – An Exhibition of the Work of Ben Hagari at the Rosenberg Gallery in Calkins Hall. 4D art in the form of film explores how concepts of time and space can be adjusted by implementing simple changes in the physical functioning of our surroundings.
Hagari is known for combining different media in the construction of his art. This exhibit features, Potter’s Will, a work of art in film that meshes performance, texture, space and sound to question our preconception about how things work. Initially, the hands of a potter (played by Hofstra Professor of Fine Arts Paul Chaleff) shape a pile of clay before the film goes on to explore metaphors concerning creation. In addition to screenings of Potter’s Will, the exhibit includes a video of its making and a working model of the set.
4D – An Exhibition runs through Wednesday, October 28. For more information call 516-463-5474 or send an email.
