Dr. Phyllis Zagano ~ “Why I Won’t Be Meeting the Pope”

Dr. Phyllis Zagano, adjunct professor of religion
Newsday

Dr. Phyllis Zagano of Hofstra’s Religion Department, an expert on women deacons and the Catholic Church, has published an op-ed, “Why I Won’t Be Meeting the Pope,” about Pope Francis’ US visit in Newsday. “I write and speak and care too much about women’s ordination,” Dr. Zagano explains.

Despite the Pope’s popularity and his compassionate handling of many modern issues, he has yet to address the controversy over allowing women to be ordained as deacons, a change that many feel is long overdue and for which there is historic precedence.
