Holly Seirup, EdD, associate professor of counseling and chair of the Department of Counseling and Mental Health Professions, has been appointed Vice Dean of the School of Health Sciences and Human Services.
“Dr. Seirup has a very impressive background and brings a wealth of experience to this new position,” said Provost Herman Berliner in an announcement to the Hofstra community this month. “Not only is Holly a tenured faculty member and outstanding teacher, but prior to joining our faculty, she served as Hofstra’s Vice President for Campus Life with an extensive portfolio that included all of student services as well as the entire plant department organizational structure. Having worked with Holly both as vice president and recently as department chair, I have firsthand knowledge of the ongoing high quality of her work.”
Dr. Seirup will report to Dean Kathleen Gallo who will now oversee both the School of Graduate Nursing and Physician Assistant Studies and the School of Health Sciences and Human Services (HSHS).
“I am both honored and very fortunate to be working with Dr. Seirup,” said Dean Gallo. “She is an extraordinary professional, and her vast knowledge and experience will be so beneficial as we move forward with new initiatives.”
Dr. Seirup, who joined Hofstra in 1982 and began teaching full-time in 2006, added, “I am looking forward to working with Dr. Gallo and the amazing faculty and students in HSHS as we continue the momentum and growth of our programs and our school.”
