The Hofstra Chorale and Chamber Singers return to the Cathedral of the Incarnation in Garden City on Friday, April 24, at 7:30 p.m. for their annual spring performance. The concert, titled “Light/Dark,” directed by Dr. David Fryling, explores the versatility of the voice, exploring aural color extremes.
Compositions range from the sunny joy of Dominick Argento’s “So I’ll Sing with my Voice” to the desperate darkness of Johannes Brahms’ “Warum ist das Licht gegeben dem Müsehligen”; from the transcendent stillness of Eric Whitacre’s “Sleep” to the giddy bounce of Michael Hennagin’s “Walking on the Green Grass”; from the warm comfort of Eleanor Daley’s “In Remembrance” to the bright silliness of Jaako Mäntyjärvi’s “El Hambo” – as well as many other shades in between.
The Cathedral of the Incarnation is located at 50 Cathedral Ave in Garden City, NY. Members of the Hofstra community (current faculty, staff and students) receive two free tickets upon presentation of a current HofstraCard.
Tickets are $10 general admission; $8 senior citizen (over 65) or matriculated non-Hofstra student with ID. For tickets and information, please call 516-463-5497. Tickets will also be sold at the door.
