Dr. Mary Anne Trasciatti on PBS’ “The Italian Americans”

Mary Anne Trasciatti, PhD, associate professor of rhetoric in the Lawrence Herbert School of Communication, appears in a new two-part, four-hour PBS documentary, “The Italian Americans.”  

Watch the episode “Becoming Americans,” which aired this week, to see Dr. Trasciatti discuss the 1912 Lawrence textile strike, the use of street spaces by Italian immigrants for processions, and the Sacco and Vanzetti case, a famous murder trial which lasted from 1920-1927.

Dr. Trasciatti has published research on the use of street spaces for outdoor meetings and on the Sacco-Vanzetti case, and is currently writing a book about one of the organizers of the Lawrence strike.

Part two of the documentary airs on Tuesday, February 24.
