Hofstra University is saddened to learn of the passing of Dr. Audrey Eisen, PhD, on February 8th. Dr. Eisen was an associate professor in the Department of Speech-Language-Hearing Sciences for 20 years, and served as graduate program director of Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology.
Dr. Eisen, who retired in 2004 as an associate professor emerita, was “a dedicated faculty member and highly regarded teacher,” said Provost and Executive Vice President for Academic Affairs Herman Berliner.
Acting Dean of the School of Health Sciences and Human Services Ronald Bloom, a colleague of Eisen’s in the Department of Speech, Language and Hearing Sciences, described her as a generous friend and co-worker.
“Audrey Eisen will be remembered for her unstoppable determination and the high standards of academic excellence that she set for her students. Audrey was a gifted conversationalist who generously shared her love of literature, travel, music and theater with her colleagues. She will be missed.”
