Dr. Alex Pelaez Earns PhD

Dr. Alexander Pelaez, who teaches in the Department of Information Systems and Business Analytics, has received his PhD from Baruch College as part of a national program to increase the number of minority business professors.

Dr. Pelaez, who earned his MBA from the Frank G. Zarb School of Business, successfully defended his dissertation “IT – Enabled Coordination in Electronic Markets: An Experimental Investigation of the Effects of Social Communication on Group Buyers”. He was a participant in The PhD Project, a not for profit organization that recruits, supports and mentors minority doctoral students as a means to increase minority representation in business schools and, by extension, in corporate America.

Dr. Pelaez “has demonstrated dedication, hard work and intelligence in joining the rapidly growing ranks of minorities choosing to influence the next generation of business leaders as college professors,” said Bernard J. Milano, president of The PhD Project and of the KPMG Foundation, founder and lead sponsor of the project.
