Dr. John Kane – First-time Patients with Psychosis Often Get Wrong Meds

Dr. John Kane, MD, chairman of psychiatry at Hofstra North Shore-LIJ School of Medicine, talks with Newsday about a national study he conducted that found patients diagnosed with schizophrenia for the first time are often given the wrong medications, which can worsen their symptoms. Dr. Kane is also vice president of behavioral health services at North Shore-LIJ Health System.
