PA Students’ Food Drive Aids Local Pantry

Students in the Physician Assistant Studies program at the School of Health Sciences and Human Services recently organized a food drive for the EAC Network in Hempstead, collecting 576 items for local residents in need.

“We are so very grateful for the  students’ compassion and commitment to helping the community through the collection of much needed food,” said Carol O’Neill, regional director for senior & nutrition services at EAC (Empowerment, Assistance, and Caring) Network, a non-profit human services agency with programs on Long Island and in New York City.  “Our pantry shelves were bare but the new supply of food will go a long way in feeding hungry senior citizens and women, children, and men with HIV/AIDS. Thanksgiving will be a little brighter for those whose age and health have left them very much alone.”
