Actor Robert Davi Shares Fond Memories of Hofstra

Newsday

In an interview with Newsday, actor and alumnus Robert Davi credits Hofstra’s Drama program with helping him hone his acting skills. “When I was in high school, they took us to the Shakespeare festival at Hofstra, which was done in a replica of the Globe Theater,” Davi says. “I remember being enchanted by that festival, and Hofstra’s drama department was on a level with Yale.” Newsday interviewed Davi to promote his concert, “Davi Sings Sinatra,” at The Paramount in Huntington on November 23. Davi’s film credits include the James Bond film Licence to Kill; Christopher Columbus: The Discovery, opposite Marlon Brando; City Heat, with Clint Eastwood; and Die Hard, with Bruce Wills. Other credits include Steven Spielberg’s classic The Goonies and Raw Deal.  In his directorial debut The Dukes (co-starring Chazz Palminteri and Peter Bogdanovich) Davi portrayed a doowop singer trying to make a comeback. He also appeared earlier this year in Expendables 3.
