Hofstra University’s FORM student gallery in Calkins Hall, South Campus, presents Ashe • Asante • Shukran by Kay Hopkins. Hopkins, a senior from Central Islip, NY, is majoring in fine arts with a concentration in photography.
Ashe • Asante • Shukran is a collection of colorful images taken by Hopkins on her first trip to Africa during the summer of 2014. “My inspirations for this were collective healing, the fragility of life, new experiences, the way colors interact with each other and the way we interact with color,” she says.
After graduation, Hopkins plans to continue working in thefine arts, possibly specializing in fashion, music, dance, and documentary photography. Examples of her work are posted at KayHopPhotos.tumblr.com.
Hopkins’ show is on display October 26-29. There will be an opening ceremony on Monday, October 27, at 6 p.m.
The FORM Gallery is located on the first floor of Calkins Hall, South Campus. Admission is free and open to the public. For more information call the Department of Fine Arts, Design, Art History at 516-463-5474.
