The Physician Assistant Studies program participated in the Making Strides Against Breast Cancer walk at Jones Beach on Sunday, Oct. 19, 2014, raising $3,071 for the American Cancer Society’s research efforts.
“As aspiring physician assistants, our mission is to raise awareness about breast cancer and health prevention,” said Ashley Cotton, who will graduate this December with a Master of Science. “Many of us walk to honor family members, friends, or patients that have been affected by breast cancer.”
More than 40 students, as well as Program Director Carina Loscalzo, took part in the walk. This is the fourth year that the PA Studies program has participated in the event, and the third year in a row that it has exceeded its own fundraising goal of $3,000.
