Associate Professor of Art History Aleksandr Naymark, will present a lecture titled “The Art at the Bukharan Court in the 8th Century: Sogdian Rulers at the Time of the Arab Conquest.” This event is part of the Archaeological Institute of America (AIA)/Long Island Society Lecture Series and will take place this Sunday, October 19, 2014, from 2-3:30 p.m. at 105 Breslin Hall, South Campus.
Dr. Naymark will discuss new findings about the pre-Islamic Bukharan Court and show how political pressures influenced the art and architecture of the royal residences in the ancient city of Varakhsha.
