PAs Join Today Show on NBC Plaza

For a second year in a row, students and faculty from Hofstra’s Physician Assistant (PA) Studies Program were on the set of NBC’s Today Show in New York City this morning for National PA Week, held annually from Oct. 6 to 12 to increase awareness of the profession and to promote a healthy lifestyle.

PA Hof outside group More than 45 Hofstra students and faculty, including professors Mark L’Eplattenier, Kelly Porta and Christine Zammit, joined other PA students from across the state to show support for the “PAs on the Plaza” event, which was organized by the New York State Society of Physician Assistants and the American Academy of Physician Assistants.

“With this event we are hoping to show our dedication to helping and promoting the health of our future patients,” said Kelly Bocchino ’16, historian for the  Hofstra University chapter of the Student Academy of the American Academy of Physician Assistants (Hofstra SAAAPA).

“It was really great to see just how many students are passionate about this profession, and how many of us are dedicated to making a difference in healthcare,” added Danniya Samuel ’16, SAAAPA outreach chair.
